Elite Tennis Player Earns Presidential Scholarship; Credits Xceed

As she looks toward to her freshman year at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Francesca Aguirre, an Xceed Preparatory Academy – Weston student, reflected on the impact of XPA not only on her high school years, but her future.

“Xceed has given me the support and flexibility to be able to train daily to pursue my goal of playing college tennis,” said Francesca. “The wonderful teachers and administration give you all the necessary tools to prepare you for higher education and to be successful in and out of the classroom. I couldn’t have done it without them!”

Francesca’s family first heard about Xceed from her tennis coach, who suggested that the combination of on-campus and virtual learning would best suit her daily schedule.

“Since I’m playing tennis most of the day, I can’t attend a traditional high school,” shared Francesca. “I went to another virtual school for three years, but the teachers weren’t available all of the time, so I decided I needed a change. When my coach told me about Xceed, I instantly loved the idea!”

Francesca typically trains every day from 9 to 11am and 1 to 3pm and travels for tournaments twice a month, on average. She noted that the Xceed Preparatory Academy teachers were always there to support her; and her parents agree.

“The school really did change her life in every way, and for that, we are eternally grateful,” said Hugo Aguirre, Francesca’s father. “The school she is going to next year (Westmont College) is mostly because of Xceed. Yes, tennis helped, but she would have never received a Presidential Scholarship if not for the education she received at Xceed, and for this we will always be in debt to everyone there.”

Francesca is currently leaning towards majoring in psychology at Westmont, which she chose because she felt like it was the best academic fit for her and where she would also be able to continue her tennis career.

Although she will miss XPA next year, the Aguirre family plans to stay involved with the school in the future. “We would really like our fourth-grader, Matteo, to eventually attend Xceed,” Hugo said. “We would like him to have the same experiences Francesca did.”
