Your College Concierge Offers Summer College Application Boot Camp

WESTON, Fla., June 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — With competition for college places at historically high levels, rising high school seniors in South Florida and elsewhere are looking to get ahead of their fellow classmates by enrolling in summer college application boot camps.
One such boot camp is offered by Your College Concierge (YCC) and its founder Peter Ratzan, who has been advising students on getting into and affording the college of their choice for over 10 years.
The YCC Summer College Prep Program and Application Boot Camp is a series of 7 weekly interactive workshops, running from June 27 through August 14 and accessible through Your College Concierge’s online platform. The boot camp is hosted by Ratzan, who will guide learners on a step-by-step journey through the entire admissions and application process.
The average public high school student will receive just 38 minutes of college/career planning assistance from their school (across all 4 years). Yet, evidence shows that students properly guided are 3.2 times more likely to attend college; 6.8 times more likely to complete a financial aid application; and twice as likely to pursue and conclude a four-year bachelor’s degree.
While small private high schools can often afford to provide their students with in-depth support for every stage of the process, large public high schools across the country struggle with staggering ratios of students to guidance counselors (nationally, the ratio is nearly 500 to 1, a proportion that experts say has remained virtually unchanged for more than 10 years).
Ratzan founded Your College Concierge (YCC) an online college guidance portal for schools, students and their families to ensure learners get the individual guidance they needed to find, get into and pay less for a college education.
“The college application process is difficult and detailed, and competition for places fierce, so it pays dividends to start ahead of time,” Ratzan said. “Leaving your college application to your final year of high school is not wise, especially with all the other pressures students’ face competing for their attention.”
Ratzan added: “Hoping good grades alone will get you through just isn’t a strategy for success anymore. For students to get to the college they want, and to find the funding solutions to support those ambitions, they need in-depth guidance and support as early as possible. They also have to be willing to invest some time in themselves.”
The YCC Summer College Prep Program and Application Boot Camp will teach rising seniors how to write a killer college essay, and how to properly showcase their accomplishments on the college application. Additionally, and perhaps most importantly for many families, the boot camp will guide students through the various ways – and applications – to maximize every scholarship and grant opportunity.
