End of Year Message from CEO
May 22, 2020
Dear Xceed Families,
What an exciting, unique and surreal school year this has been! Our student body has more than doubled in size from the end of last year to the end of this year. We successfully opened two new Xceed schools in Weston and Daytona Beach. As we are entering the final few weeks of this school year, the Xceed team has already begun planning for the 2020-2021 school year. We will be utilizing feedback from our stakeholder surveys to increase curriculum offerings, advanced placement courses, and social and leadership opportunities for our students.
On Friday, March 13th we closed our campuses due to Covid-19. On Monday, March 16th we seamlessly transitioned our brick and mortar campuses into a virtual school. I am incredibly proud of our Heads of School, Administrative Assistants, and especially our Teachers. Utilizing, Microsoft Teams, our Teachers have had hundreds of individual and small group video conferences with our students. While many schools across the nation have struggled with “remote learning,” the Xceed model has enabled us to continue to provide our students with an outstanding college prep program. I am also very proud of our students. During these uncertain times, they have continued working very hard. All of our students will complete their school year on time on May 28th!
On May 29, 2020, we will be conducting our 2nd annual graduation ceremony. Due to Covid-19, our graduation ceremony this year will be virtual. Our graduation committee, led by Kendall Head of School Miriam Rube, has worked very hard to make this a memorable event. Our 21 graduates earned over $750,000 in merit scholarships from the colleges that accepted them. They were accepted to colleges such as University of Florida, Texas A&M, University of North Florida, Stetson, Flagler, Florida Institute of Technology, Rollins College, Emerson College and many others. We are so incredibly proud of the resiliency displayed by the class of 2020. We will miss them and can’t wait to hear about all of their future successes.
We plan on re-opening our campuses for the 2020-2021 school year on August 24, 2020. Obviously, much can change between now and August. We will comply with federal, state and local guidelines. The health and safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. We will be in contact with you throughout the summer updating you on our re-opening plan. We strongly believe that the Xceed educational model is the perfect design for how schools will operate post Covid-19.
Thank you very much for your continued support of Xceed. I hope that all of our families have a happy and most importantly a healthy summer. We can’t wait to see you again in August.
Best Regards,
Brent Goldman, Ed.D
